Montauk Yacht Club parked its poolside lunch in a vintage Airstream

At the Hamptons resort and marina, a polished Airstream called Yachtys feeds the family pool and the Great Lawn, sends lobster rolls anywhere on property, and doubles as a bookable event space.

The most casual restaurant at Montauk Yacht Club has polished aluminum walls and a tow hitch. It is a vintage Airstream parked on the Great Lawn, just off the family pool, and in the resort's own photograph it sits on a bed of gravel beside a slatted wooden walkway. Its serving hatch is propped open under a pair of caged lamps, a chalkboard by the step advertises lobster rolls, and the trailer's mirrored sides pick up the sky. Out front, long wooden tables stand on sand under white umbrellas, and a cornhole board waits in the foreground.

The resort calls it Yachtys. It first went by The Galley, a name that appears in navy script on the trailer and all over the paper lining its burger boats in the club's earlier photographs. It still shows up in the code of the club's home page as "The Galley — Food Truck at Family Pool." The new name came with the 2026 season, which the club describes as its "most significant evolution since Proper Hospitality took the helm in 2024."

The trailer has an unusual job. It doesn't have to be a destination. It has to make a resort feel easy.

Lunch for people still in swimsuits

Montauk Yacht Club sits on Star Island in Lake Montauk, on the East End of Long Island. It opened in 1928 as a private social club and has what its operators call the largest marina in the Hamptons, with more than 200 slips for boats up to 300-foot superyachts. Proper Hospitality took over management in 2024 for the owner, Safe Harbor Marinas, according to Proper's announcement. The resort runs by the season.

A property like that already has a serious restaurant. This year it is Alba Spiaggia, an Italian concept with wood-fired cooking that replaced Ocean Club on the dock. It also has a Pool Bar and The Market, a grab-and-go shop for snacks and provisions. The Airstream covers a different need: lunch for a family that has claimed a spot by the pool and doesn't want to give it up. The club's FAQ says Yachtys is open for lunch, and its menus run from "All Day" into "Afternoon." The FAQ says food is available for takeout "to any location you'd like," and the pool page says guests can order from the Pool Bar and Yachtys during pool hours. The family page lists Yachtys and The Market as the places with kid-approved food. The club says the trailer mainly serves resort guests, and that access to others may vary by season.

A short menu at resort prices

The menu is short and coastal, and priced like the Hamptons. As listed on the club's website in October 2026, the Montauk-style lobster roll is $44. The Yachtys Cheeseburger, with grilled onions, American cheese, pickles and something called Shark Bite Sauce, is $18. The Big Kahuna Burger adds pineapple and bacon for $20. There is a wagyu "Super Dog" for $14, coconut chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries and a corn-and-avocado salad named the Overboard. Dessert is ice cream from Alec's, farmstand popsicles or ice cream sandwiches at $10 each.

The drinks are what make it an adult lunch counter as well as a kids' one. There is frosé at $24, a margarita made with Montaukila Blanco at $22, local Montauk Brewing IPA at $11 and Out East rosé at $18.

The trailer also has clear limits. The FAQ says it doesn't serve coffee or hot drinks. The club's guest compendium sends anyone looking for coffee, smoothies or breakfast to Alba Spiaggia.

The lawn becomes a place

Put a food truck on a lawn and the lawn turns into somewhere to spend the afternoon. The resort's pages build that out around Yachtys. Its experiences FAQ lists lawn games there. Its beach FAQ, explaining why there are no bonfires on the sand, names Yachtys as one of the places on the property with a fire pit. The family pool is "just steps away," the family page says.

The 2026 plan makes the link official. In the club's season announcement, Yachtys sits under the Alba Spiaggia umbrella, next to Shuck Club oyster nights on the dock and the Alba Bambini pizza workshops for children. The line for the trailer is plain: "Summer favorites from our vintage Airstream on the Great Lawn." The same season added The Courts, a padel, pickleball and tennis complex that the club says is the only padel facility in Montauk. It also gave the family programming its own name, The Salty Club. The hotel opened on April 2, and all food and beverage was running by mid-May.

A kitchen that also earns as a venue

The trailer has a second job that's easy to miss. In the club's list of event spaces, alongside the Waterfront Ballroom and the Villa Courtyard, Yachtys appears as its own venue: 7,392 square feet with a capacity of 75. The Great Lawn around it is listed separately at 37,440 square feet for up to 1,000 people.

The Meetings & Events and Weddings pages sell the trailer as "a relaxed coastal setting," a spot steps from the marina for welcome drinks, rehearsal gatherings and wedding-weekend parties. For a waterfront resort that hosts weddings, that's a useful extra room. It suits the welcome drinks a ballroom is too formal for, and it comes with a working kitchen.

What the Airstream does for the resort

Taken together, the club's own pages show what one trailer does here. It handles casual lunch so the restaurant doesn't have to. It gives families a reason to stay at the pool through lunch. It turns an open lawn into a destination with games and a fire pit. And it adds a venue the sales team can book.

The resort kept the trailer for 2026 and changed its name. When Haute Living profiled the club in late April, it still called the unit The Galley and reported that it was "returning for its second season."

The format had company on the property this summer. Mytheresa's touring Airstream boutique made the Montauk Yacht Club one of its four Hamptons stops; we covered that trailer here. By early October the Yachtys page read "Closed for the season," and the Airstream had finished another summer on the lawn.
